IT Connections & Virtual Employment Attendant

IT Connections & Virtual Employment Attendant

Accenture has been the proud sponsor of the IT Connections program since 2013. Their support for this program extends well beyond just sponsorship. Throughout the year, in every single IT Connections cohort, Accenture brings their staff in as guest speakers, volunteers that help newcomers with mock interviews and mentors for the program participants. In 2019, ACCES Employment was the recipient of a global grant from Accenture in the amount of $1.1M. With the grant, ACCES has developed and launched VERA (Virtual Employment and Resource Attendant), an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered bot to improve services for job seekers, many of whom are newcomers to Canada.

TD and ACCES have already made a significant difference in the lives of many newcomers in a variety of innovative and targeted ways. Working together, the ACCES-TD partnership will continue to address such issues as improving income stability for newcomers through future-skills development, much-needed STEM training for underrepresented groups, reducing and removing the barriers facing women jobseekers and helping to curb unemployment and underemployment among internationally trained and skilled workers new to Canada. In 2020, TD will also be offering a two-day compliance training session for ACCES refugee and newcomer clients who have an interest in pursuing a career in banking, audit, compliance, legal, anti-fraud or anti-money laundering.

Alumni Engagement Strategy & Impact Days

Alumni Engagement Strategy & Impact Days

In 2019-2020, Deloitte delivered a significant pro bono project for ACCES to develop an Alumni Engagement Strategy which provides extended services and networking opportunities for ACCES graduates who are now successfully employed in Canada. The Alumni Engagement Strategy ensures clients that graduate receive a continuum of care and supports them in positively integrating and growing their careers in Canada.

As a result of this successful project, ACCES will be rolling out a full alumni strategy this coming year.

Deloitte has also supported ACCES in a volunteer capacity with multiple Impact Day projects since 2017 to support their Speed Mentoring® program. Impact Days have enabled newcomers to network with Deloitte professionals in their field, receive advice about their job search, and meet contacts that can refer them to job opportunities.
