ACCES offers sector specific training and essential skills programs designed to support jobseekers interested in a career in the trades. The program will increase your knowledge about apprenticeships and employment opportunities in the construction and manufacturing industries.

Trades Connections for Construction & Manufacturing

Program Details:

  • 3 Week Program
  • Delivered virtually with focus on York Region residents, newcomers and youth
  • Certification in WHMIS, Forklift, Working at Heights and Health & Safety
  • Workshop selection tailored to client need and industry demand
  • Soft Skills Solutions Certification training delivered by Georgian College
  • Information about apprenticeship pathways, and requirements for entering the construction and manufacturing sectors
  • Future skills training including creative problem solving, workplace communication, and growth mindset

Program Eligibility:

  • No previous industry experience in the construction and manufacturing sectors
  • Age requirement is 18+
  • CLB 5 and above

Masonry Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Program Details:

  • 16 Week Program
  • Delivered at the Ontario Masonry Training Centre
  • FREE TOOLS, FREE SAFETY GEAR, FREE TRAINING
  • 4 Weeks of Safety Training including Certifications in:
  • WHMIS
  • Working at Heights
  • Propane Handling
  • Basic Construction Health & Safety
  • Forklift
  • Aerial Work Platform
  • 4 Weeks of Intro to Masonry Training
  • 8 Week paid work placement

Program Eligibility:

  • No previous industry experience in the construction sector
  • Age requirement is 18+
  • CLB 5 and above
