Collaboration Continues between Toronto Pearson and ACCES
TORONTO – Feb 19, 2020. In April of 2019, Toronto Pearson and ACCES announced a partnership designed to build the capacity of ACCES Employment’s Speed Mentoring® program to reduce unemployment and underemployment in Peel region and connect 600 skilled new Canadians and young adults to local employers. This work is ongoing and continues, now, into 2020.
Toronto Pearson continues to make investments in the people in their neighbouring communities to ensure they have access to job opportunities that will allow them to realize their potential and create economic opportunities for themselves and their families. Toronto Pearson is a major employer in Peel Region, and in Canada, and they have devoted significant time and resources to understand both current and future workforce needs and to help to address a variety of employment issues.
Partnering with ACCES Employment made a lot of sense for Toronto Pearson. According to Robyn Connelly, Director of Community Relations with the Greater Toronto Airport Authority(GTAA), Toronto Pearson wanted to partner with ACCES because “They are an incredible partner…They are so ahead of the field in employment services and serving new Canadians, and they have a really remarkable diversity of programming.”
With the funding received from Toronto Pearson’s Propeller Project, ACCES has expanded their Speed Mentoring® program by increasing resources to engage more volunteer mentors, more industry leaders in the Peel Region, offering more Speed Mentoring® events to create connections for jobseekers resulting in sustainable and meaningful employment for highly skilled newcomers who may be unemployed or underemployed residing in the GTAA.
