Last month, we hosted a first-of-its-kind Speed Mentoring® event in Kincardine to connect skilled jobseekers with career opportunities in Ontario’s energy sector.
Recognizing that geography can be a barrier, Bruce Power chartered a bus to bring ACCES clients from Toronto to Kincardine, breaking down location barriers and making the event accessible and inclusive for all participants.
The event brought together 42 jobseekers with professionals from Bruce Power and employer partners including AtkinsRéalis, Kinectrics, and Day & Zimmerman. Together we created a unique space for jobseekers to explore real-time opportunities in the energy and engineering fields, gain technical insight, and receive direct guidance on potential career pathways. Several participants have since moved forward to formal interviews, with many continuing in the hiring process.
This is what inclusive workforce development looks like, strengthened by bold cross-sector partnerships, and focused on creating access and results.
We are especially grateful to the incredible team at Bruce Power, including Dan Miller, Manager of Talent Acquisition, and Claire Wappett, Recruiter, for their leadership and generosity in making this event such a success.
