Connecting to Careers in Construction: Pre-Apprenticeship Training is a free, 16-week program designed to prepare individuals for careers in the skilled trades. The program includes an 8-week paid placement and focuses on developing essential employment readiness skills to support entry into apprenticeship and career pathways in the construction industry. Participants will receive in-depth training in carpentry as the primary trade, while also gaining exposure to secondary trades such as sheet metal work, brick and stone masonry, and construction craft work.

- Receive health and safety certifications – working at heights, forklift, elevated work platform, WHMIS and propane handling
- Learn about technical foundations – construction and building systems, basic construction skills with hands-on training in masonry, woodworking and welding
- Receive trades specific skills training – sheet metalwork, brick and stone mason and construction craft work
- Stipend provided to participants to cover the in-class training
- Aged 18+
- Proof of education
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to travel throughout the GTA
- Willingness to learn and commit for the duration of the project
- No previous industry experience in the construction sector required
