Connecting Engineers with Careers in the Energy Sector is an Ontario-wide, online, bridge-to-work program designed to support internationally trained engineering professionals with their integration into the Canadian labour market. This 9-week program is delivered in partnership with Humber Polytechnic and funded by the Government of Ontario.

Program Components

  • Renewable Energy and Career Path, Microgrids Fundamentals, Breakthrough technologies in distributed energy resources such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Health and Safety Codes and Standards, Ontario Electric Code, and Fire Code
  • Energy Systems and Electrical Equipment in Ontario, Industrial Automation in Ontario, Applications of Measuring Instruments
  • Academic training from a recognized educational institute
  • Seminars on the Professional Engineers Ontario (P. Eng) licensing process
  • Future skills training including creative problem solving, workplace communication, growth mindset, and more
  • Employment preparation and job search support, including various job search tools
  • One-to-one support from an Employment Consultant who is knowledgeable about the sector
  • One-on-one coaching and job retention support (as needed)
  • Access to IBM SkillsBuild learning platform

Program Eligibility

  • Resident of Ontario
  • Permanent Resident, Naturalized Canadian Citizen, Conventional Refugee, Refugee Claimant with open work permit, and Provincial nominee OINP
  • Minimum two years of recent and relevant experience in the engineering field outside Canada
  • Language requirement: CLB 6 and above
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering equivalent to Canadian degree or diploma

November 17, 2025  – January 16, 2026
January 26, 2026 – March 27, 2026

Program Fees

The program fee is $150+tax (includes books/materials). This fee offsets the academic portion of the program. Registered participants may be eligible for Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program – OBPAP.
