The Women in Technology program helps newcomer women to start a career in IT by building essential technology skills in areas like programming, web development and coding. In addition to industry-specific technical training, the Women in Technology program will also provide you with an understanding of Canadian workplace culture, connections to employers, job search coaching and mentorship.

To be eligible for the program, clients must reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and hold valid Permanent Residence status etc. in Canada. See program full eligibility criteria for details.

Program Components

  • 10-week program (Stream 1 – inexperienced stream)
  • 9-week program (Stream 2 – experienced stream)
  • Orientation to Canadian Workplace Culture, technology sector in Canada and the expectations of employers in the sector
  • Access to online programming and web development modules curated by a recognized provider
  • Project and challenge-based learning through instructor led web development labs
  • One-to-one support from an Employment Consultant who is knowledgeable about the sector

Program Eligibility

Women in Technology Stream 2 (Experienced Stream)

  • CLB 6 or higher preferred
  • Post-secondary education in the IT field from outside of Canada
  • Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee
  • Minimum of two years professional experience in the IT sector outside of Canada

Women in Technology Stream 1 (Inexperienced Stream)

  • CLB Level 6 or higher preferred
  • Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee
